Description
With a nearly columnar form, October Magic Rose Camellia lends itself well to narrow situations or smaller garden spaces and for this reason is fast becoming a staple for homeowners and professional landscape designers alike. Bright, truly double, salmon-rose flowers against the glossy, dark green foliage are simply stunning.
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing only 6 to 8 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide with an upright and columnar form, October Magic Rose Camellia is perfect for smaller garden spaces or those spots that call for a narrower plant. It is ideal for use as an accent or espalier (grown flat against a wall) in home foundation plantings, as a hedge or background plant, or in groupings in landscape and woodland borders. A fine addition to camellia gardens, pink theme gardens, cottage gardens, cut flower gardens and woodland borders. Also suitable for containers that can be brought indoors for winter by those who live and garden above USDA Zone 7a, where this camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy. Find Your Zone
Suggested Spacing: 3 feet apart for solid hedge; 6 feet or more apart for space between plants
Note: For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 7a, where this Camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Camellia adapt well to various soil types. They prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellias grow and bloom their best in partial shade, with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine. Late evening sun is fine.

I decided to order this camellia from Wilson Bros. because it was impossible to find in my area. I was really shocked at the size and quality of these 2 plants!! I have since ordered 3 more camellias for the same customer and she is ‘over the moon’. I am a permanent customer and have been telling others to use your site! In renovating an old garden here in Asheville, NC this summer, I have included a number of plants from your nursery. Your inventory includes so many varieties of plants that are hard to find elsewhere—“old fashioned” varieties that are needed for an old garden. Plus, I have been very impressed with the health of the plants we’ve received and the quality of your shipping! All of your plants seem to be happy as clams here.——————————————–Thanks so much for your review. Let us know if there’s ever anything we can help you with. 🙂 – Beth | WBG
