Description
A fast grower and one of the longest flowering Camellia sasanqua we offer, Crimson ‘N Clover produces LOADS of true crimson flowers for 8 to 9 weeks during fall and well into winter. Each flower is centered with a boss of bright yellow stamens for extra-added appeal. Boasting lush, dark green foliage with reddish new growth, Crimson ‘N Clover is a fast-grower with an upright habit to 10 to 12 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide that is perfect for hedges and espalier (trained to grow flat against a wall).
Landscape & Garden Uses
Growing only 10 to 12 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide with an upright growth habit, the October Magic Crimson ‘N Clover Camellia is perfect for use as a privacy screen or hedge, in grouping, or to frame the corners of homes. A fine addition to red theme gardens, camellia gardens and cottage gardens. Also suitable for containers that can be overwintered indoors by those who live and garden above USDA Zone 7a, where this camellia variety is not reliably winter hardy. Find Your Zone.Â
Suggested Spacing:Â 5 to 6 feet apart for solid hedge; 12 feet apart for space between plants
Growing Preferences
Camellia adapt well to various soil types. They prefer a moist but well-drained acidic soil that is rich in organic matter. Constantly soggy soil is a slow killer. In general, Camellias grow and bloom their best in partial shade, with some shelter from the hot afternoon sun. Morning sun with afternoon shade or filtered sunlight is perfect. All-day filtered sun is fine. Late evening sun is fine.

I have ordered a lot of plants from Wilson Brothers, and every one of them has arrived on time, well packed, healthy and free of damage. Uniformly excellent experience! In particular I have bought a couple dozen camellias, and all of them came out of the box looking great. A couple of times, as with the camellia Crimson ‘n Clover, I was astonished at the size and robust health of the plant when I opened it up. All plants have been just as described, and I haven’t found any other place with comparable selection or performance. You guys really are the best!———————————————————————————————–Wow! We are so glad you are pleased with your purchase! Thanks for the kind words and great review! Beth | WBG 🙂
I ordered two 3 gallon size camellias and they arrived promptly, very well packed. This is a beautiful, balanced specimen with healthy roots that is blooming already. I chose the flowers to be visible from across the yard. They are stunning. I chose Wilson Bros. because of my experience with the quality of their plants.—————————————————We are so glad you are pleased with your purchase! Thanks for the kind words and wonderful review! I was determined to get a Crimson ‘N Clover camellia, instead of the more frequently found holiday red varieties recommended by my landscape architect. The customer service folks at Wilson Bros. could not have been more responsive to all my questions, and the camellia that they shipped is just beautiful. Much to my surprise, the 3 gallon pot contained a nicely shaped plant that reached almost 4 feet tall! Way beyond expectations, because I was prepared to get one 2 feet tall at best. There will not be any need to plant it in a pot first, and transfer when it is taller. This fast growing Crimson ‘N Clover will go right in the ground, and I can’t wait to see its first dark red winter blooms. I am so glad I stuck with this variety and Wilson Bros.———————————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come! Huge, healthy plant! Arrived all budded up and in great condition. I’ve ordered LOTS of plants from other online companies. They are usually rather small. I ordered a 3 gallon tree from another company and they actually chopped the top off the tree to make it fit in a smaller box! Not Wilson Bros., though! This 3 gallon Crimson ‘n Clover Camellia looked as big and nice as a plant I would find at a regular garden center for this price! Wilson Bros. will be my go-to online plant supplier from now on!—————————–We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy it for years to come!
